Dorothee V. loves it when the creative ideas she comes up with for Ludwig Schokolade are made visible—in retail, at the POS, and where the consumers are.

In tune with the brands. On the target groups’ wavelength.

From conventional secondary placement in the supermarket to major event appearances: As senior trade marketing manager at Ludwig Schokolade, Dorothee V. is responsible for a whole gamut of tasks that never end.

How would you describe your job at Ludwig Schokolade?

There’s something unusual about my position: It’s a combination of classic trade marketing and end consumer promotion. On the one hand, I develop retail activities designed in particular to boost our products’ visibility and therefore support point-of-sale sales, such as secondary placement displays, experiential placements, and tastings. And on the other hand, I’m responsible for end consumer promotion, which includes sweepstakes, sampling promotions, and events. Our presence at the GLÜCKSGEFÜHLE Festival with the brand FRITT is one example of this. That’s something I’m especially proud of. Being there to witness hundreds of thousands of visitors celebrating the brand is simply fantastic.

Sounds very varied! What does a typical day look like for you?

Things are never boring! I work for the brands Schogetten, FRITT, and Edle Tropfen in Nuss. My job is to keep track of the different target groups, needs, and communications strategies. Sometimes, I can be developing new secondary placements for retail, then I’ll be preparing an end consumer promotion, answering inquiries from the Sales department, or coordinating with Product Management and Communications. It’s this mix of creativity, organization, and teamwork that makes the job so attractive for me.

Things work best in a team: What makes collaborating with your coworkers so special for you?

I especially value the open, trusting collaboration I have with my coworkers. I’m permanently in close dialogue with the brand’s product managers, the Communications and Sales departments, and, of course, our field sales force. Our team out in the field are my right and left hands when it comes to implementation at the POS. I’m hugely encouraged when I see for myself while out shopping or in photos that coworkers show me how our market activities are being made visible.

What sets Ludwig Schokolade apart as an employer for you?

For me, Ludwig Schokolade is characterized first and foremost by openness, honest communication, and treating one another with respect. I enjoy a great deal of creative freedom in terms of contributing my own ideas and then realizing them as a team. I also value the dialogue that occurs between more experienced coworkers and the younger generation. This mix generates a lot of fresh input.

Be honest now: Which of the products do you like to indulge in the most?

I’ve really come to appreciate Edle Tropfen in Nuss since I joined the company. Before that, I probably would have said FRITT—something we’re all familiar with from our childhoods. But I’m now very much a fan of the cocktail varieties of Edle Tropfen in Nuss.
